Flax fiber Biaxal
Weight: 350 g / m²
Construction: +/- 45°
Width: 31 cm wide
Only this width available.
Biaxial flax scrim with high performance and damping properties.
Ideal for torsion reinforcement or push bars.
Characteristics Fiber: Tensile modulus 58.5 GPa,
Tensile strength 700 MPa
Density 1.35.
Is laminated together with carbon fiber as a dampening layer.
Together with flax fiber uni it is also possible to replace glass fiber and carbon fiber completely.
Together (flax fiber Uni + Biax) it is 10% more rigid than glass fiber fabric 750 g / m² with a surface weight of 650 g / m².
For a pair of skis you need at least 4.
Price per meter.
Personal experiences:
When building a par of skis only with flax fibers I used about 1100 g synthetic resin mixture.
So about 1/3 to 1/2 more than with glass fiber or carbon.
In consultation with the manufacturer, the following has emerged:
The flax fiber swells slightly through the resin and thus absorbs more resin.
For pneumatic presses with 5 – 6 bar, it pushes the superfluous resin out again.
In the case of vacuum presses, attention must be paid to the resin quantity which is applied.
Apply the fibers on a flat plate and spread the resin well with a roll.
Apply approx. 390 g / m² of resin mixture to the UD flat (300 g / m²).
For flax biax (350 g / m²) apply approx. 490 g / m² resin mixture.
Apply approx. 160 g / m² of resin mixture to FD UD (120 g / m²).
